The First of Its Kind: Crafting a Space that Heals

There’s something quietly heavy in the air lately. You feel it at the grocery store, in waiting rooms, online. People are tired. Disconnected.

Struggling silently with mental health, financial stress, loneliness.

We’re not a therapy group.
We’re not a nonprofit.
But we believe deeply in the healing power of community. Of doing. Of making things with your hands—and making something more in the process.

What if a store could be more than a place to buy something?

What if it could feel like your living room... a studio... a gathering place…
What if it could bring people together, not just to shop, but to make something beautiful—with their hands and with each other?

What if it could feel like your living room... a studio... a gathering place…
What if it could bring people together, not just to shop, but to make something beautiful—with their hands and with each other?

That’s the vision behind Parlor 1776, and we’re proud to say—we’re doing something new. Something Buffalo hasn’t seen before.

We are the first placemaking, curated retail space designed for crafters, makers, dreamers, and neighbors. Yes, we’ll have smart-cutting machines you can rent. Yes, you’ll be able to make t-shirts, mugs, cards, and more. Yes, we’ll carry beautifully selected tools, materials, and handmade goods.

But more than anything, we’re building a space where people can just exist and create.

As more libraries close around Buffalo, many of us are left wondering: where do we go to think, to dream, to meet someone new, or to reconnect with our kids? Parlor 1776 is our answer to that.

We’re not just offering you a transaction—we’re inviting you to co-create something bigger than any one project.

We want to be that warm, welcoming space where your ideas come to life. Where your little one makes their first painted card. Where you meet another mom, or retiree, or teen who’s just as excited about vinyl cuts as you are. Where you don’t have to buy anything to feel like you belong.

This is community through the art of making.

Right now, we’re still hunting for our permanent home in Buffalo. But the movement has already begun—with this email, with each follower on Facebook, with every person who dreams of a different kind of retail experience.

If this resonates with you, we hope you’ll stay close. Forward this newsletter to a fellow maker. Follow us online. Hit reply and tell us what you want to see at Parlor 1776.

Because we’re building this for Buffalo—and we’re building it with you.
